The national competition that highlights the art of creating animated short films. Each film will be carefully selected by a panel of experts, ensuring an exceptional caliber of works. During this memorable evening, we will screen the competing films and proceed with the awards presentation. The winners will have the opportunity to explain their creative process, providing valuable insights into their artistic journey.
But the Gala is not just about competition; it is also an essential networking event for industry professionals. Independent creators will benefit from a stimulating discussion forum, promoting exchanges and collaborations. The evening will be complemented by delicious culinary tastings, all in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for celebrating art in all its forms. Who can participate?
To all the illustrators and motion designers in the community!
If you are an illustrator and dream of bringing your creative universe to life through storytelling or a contemplative film, this competition is for you. The competition is open to both students and professionals. Dare to push the boundaries of your creations; you can produce your film as a team to enhance the original work. The selection of nominated films will be evaluated by our panel of experts. The audience will vote for the three winners, who will receive a prize and a monetary reward.

L’illustratrice
Après des études en design graphique à l’UQAM, Mélanie débute sa carrière en tant qu’illustratrice au sein de l’agence d’illustrateurs Anna Goodson Management. Illustrer pour cette écurie lui vaudra quatre années de travail éditorial fructueux et de nombreux prix et reconnaissances. Elle illustre encore, par plaisir.
La galeriste
En 2005, elle continue son exploration de la scène artistique en fondant avec Frédéric Gauthier et Francisco Sottolichio la Galerie et boutique Madame Edgar. Pendant deux années, la galerie jouit de l’engouement des montréalais pour tout ce qui est issu de la nouvelle scène d’art urbain, jouets y compris. C’est pendant cette période que nait Nada, sa figurine de Vinyl.
Mélanie œuvrera dans la galerie comme commissaire et directrice artistique, proposant notamment les expositions collectives Amour Chiffon, Paperbag 1 et 2 et Playground, ainsi que des évènements de création sous thématiques « Paper Jams ». La notoriété de Madame Edgar fait encore vibrer aujourd’hui le cœur des jeunes designers à travers la ville.
La romancière aux images
C’est aux Éditions de la Pastèque qu’elle sera accueillie en 2004 pour publier ses premiers livres jeunesse, soit la série Bobby, et collaborer au collectif de bédé L’appareil. Elle aime exploiter son attirance certaine pour la bédé quand l’occasion se présente, notamment aux 24 heures de la bédé, ou sur le sa quotidienne la Petite Tribune.
La designer
Sa carrière se déploie parallèlement en design graphique. En 1999, elle co-fonde avec Francisco Sottolichio M. Edgar, l’atelier de communication visuelles. En 2008, elle a fait un saut chez Sid Lee comme directrice artistique et aujourd’hui, son talent est mit au profit de plusieurs agences, diverses boites de design et de bons clients particuliers.
